When medical therapy fails to relieve the pain of osteoarthritis of the knee, Knee Replacement surgery is performed. Knee Replacement, is a common surgical procedure most often performed to relieve the pain and disability from degenerative arthritis, most commonly osteoarthritis, but other arthritis as well.

Knee replacement surgery are total knee replacement as well as partial. Inability to perform everyday activities like standing, walking bending, is the main reason for  considering knee replacement surgery.

We specialise in knee replacement surgeries.. We have a dedicated team of doctors who have successfully performed hundreds of knee replacement surgeries till date.

The procedures for knee replacement have changed significantly in the last few years. Surgeons now have access to improved Instruments & Machines.& hence the surgery can be done fast & in a safer way. In general, the surgery consists of replacing the diseased or damaged joint surfaces of the knee with metal and plastic components shaped to allow continued motion of the knee.

Total Knee surgery removes the dameaged and painful areas of the femur (thigh bone) and tibia (lower leg bone). These areas are then replaced with specially designed metal and plastic parts.

Following is the procedure how a knee replacement surgery is done ?

Step1:-

The damage portions of the femur bone and cartilage are the cut away. The end of the femur bone is reshaped to allow the metal femoral component of fit on it.

Step2:-

The metal componentis attached to the end of the femur using bone cement

Step3:-

The damage portions of the tibia bone and cartilage are cut away. The tibia end is reshaped to receive the metal component.

Step4:-

The metal component for the tibia is sucured to the end of the tibia bone using bone cement.

Step5:-

A plastic plate is attached to the tibial component. The plate will support the body's weight and allow the femur to move over the tibia smoothly.

Step6:-

To make sure the patella, or knee cap, glides smoothly over the new artificial knee, its rear surface is prepared to receive a plastic
